This unit is designed to prepare students for reading Three Cups of Tea - Young Readers Edition. This is an important book, heavy in culture, geography and vocabulary that is unfamiliar to many students in the U.S. The goal of this Unit is to give sixth and seventh grade students enough background knowledge so they may better appreciate and understand the story.
The book and its themes will be integrated in to five curricular disciplines so that students may hear a lot of the same language in most of their classes throughout the week.
The following is a basic outline of what will happen this week.
Resources
The teacher will create a blog for the class, which will serve as a central location for accessing the resources and activities. Students will also be accessing this blog when they are reading the book to respond to posts. This is where students will be submitting their work, rather than handing in paper to the teacher. The idea is that everyone can see the comments to make the entire experience more collaborative.
